Northstar is focused on making financial wellness accessible for everyone through financial tools and personalized financial advice. I joined the marketing team to help define their brand across all materials, creating an approachable and cohesive front.

Event booth theme: financial guidance

To help Northstar stand out among dozens of other booths at large events, we developed the theme of “Financial Guidance”, inspired largely by national parks and park rangers. Like the great outdoors, navigating personal finances can feel complex, scary, and intimidating. Northstar is here to meet people at whatever stage in life they are at, and to help guide them through whatever financial challenges they are facing to achieve their goals.

The booth’s design centered around the tent, acting like the visitor center or ranger station you would find at a national park.

 

Maps and directional signs help illustrate how Northstar supports people through their financial journeys.

Financial Literacy Month campaign

In celebration of Financial Literacy Month we developed a Financial Myths quiz to help better educate folks about their finances and and help build brand awareness. This quiz takes folks on a fun and fantasy-inspired journey through different finance-inspired lands including the dark, mucky swamps of Tax Land and the lush forest with impressive castles of Retirement.

Budget Cat

Northstar’s beloved mascot, Budget Cat, is based on a real bodega cat in San Francisco who enjoys sleeping on the warm ATM, and swipes at people’s hands each time they tried to withdraw money. I had the opportunity to give Budget Cat a playful update, and give it a larger presence among Northstar’s internal brand.
